This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

  1. Either add the plugin via the ‘Add New Plugin’ screen, or upload the mobile-smart directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Go to Settings->Mobile Smart and choose your theme to display when a mobile device encounters your page.

See the Frequently Asked Questions for guidance on how to use the plugin.

If you wish to use the built in sample boilerplate (i.e. barebones) theme as a starting place: 1. Copy the plugins/mobile-smart/mobile-smart-theme/ folder to the wp-content/themes/ directory 1. Select the theme in Settings->Mobile Smart 1. Make appropriate modifications to the theme

OK WordPress noob here. I know my site looks terrible on a mobile device, but I’m not clear on how to use this plug-in to fix the problem. Once it is installed, it says “make appropriate modifications to the theme”. As a beginner, I’m afraid I would have no clue how to set up the appropriate themes for all these different types of devices. Is this something I would have to learn or should I pay my designer to set this up for me? I’m on Genesys Lifestyle Pro, but I have a custom design that was created for me and I’m nervous about changing anything on it.

Sorry, your comment got lost in the spam queue – I’ve rescued it now.

The best thing is to get a second mobile-friendly theme, and use the Mobile Smart plugin to switch between them. That may mean paying your designer, or getting an off-the-shelf theme.

Yes it does user agent switch. Just to confirm, have you ticked the ‘switch for tablets’ setting on the ‘Mobile Theme’ tab of the Mobile Smart settings?

    I’m using the Tesseract theme.

Everything looks fine on my laptop but when I go to my site on my phone, I just get a section of the main photo on my home page with the site logo, and that is all.
I went to settings and it shows the Tesseract theme name and that it is enabled.
I am not sure what I need to do next. Any thoughts? Thank you.

i thought I would try again as I would like to get this solved soon: I’m using the Tesseract theme.

Everything looks fine on my laptop but when I go to my site on my phone, I just get a section of the main photo on my home page with the site logo, and that is all.
I went to settings and it shows the Tesseract theme name and that it is enabled.
I am not sure what else I need to do next to make this work as I’m a beginner at this. Any thoughts? Thank you.
